
Agartala : The Legal Aid Society of National Law University, Tripura, conducted a legal awareness programme at the Central Jail, Agartala, as part of its ongoing commitment to promote legal literacy and access to justice for all.
The initiative aimed to educate inmates about their legal rights, available legal remedies, and procedural safeguards under Indian law. The programme included interactive sessions where law students and faculty members addressed common legal issues faced by prisoners, such as bail procedures, rights during detention, and legal aid services.
Speaking on the occasion, faculty coordinators emphasized the importance of empowering incarcerated individuals with legal knowledge to help them make informed decisions regarding their cases. The inmates expressed appreciation for the outreach and actively participated in the discussions.
This programme is part of the Society’s broader effort to extend legal assistance beyond classrooms and contribute meaningfully to community welfare, especially among marginalized populations.
