Dimapur’s poultry traders bet on cold chain as prices soar
Dimapur’s poultry market, the largest in Nagaland, has long been hostage to boom-and-bust cycles: glut in the harvest months, scarcity and high prices in the rains.
A cooperative has opened a cold-chain hub with 200 tonnes of capacity, allowing farmers to store and sell against the calendar.
Early results are promising: poultry prices held steady through the last monsoon for the first time in memory.
